A warm welcome awaits you at our lovely independent bookshop in Cockermouth – a historic market town on the edge of the Lake District National Park, in Cumbria.
The New Bookshop is a popular, friendly place for locals, book-lovers, holiday-makers and people just passing through. We have bravely weathered the rain, shine (and floods!) of Cockermouth Main Street for fifty years!
We would love you to come and drop into our welcoming and newly renovated bookshop. Our coffee shop is also open again serving cake, teas and coffee.
Hope to see you soon!
We asked all the bookshops to answer three Christmas questions:
1. What is your favourite Christmas book?
How Winston Saved Christmas
2. What books should we look out for this December? Adult fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction
Adult Fiction, we’re selling Bridge of Clay (my book of the year!!) pretty well & ‘The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle’, children’s we love ‘Pages and Co’ & Grandpa Christmas amongst many, many more
Non Fiction ‘The Story of the British Isles’ by Neil Oliver, local book ‘Wainwrights in colour’, Becoming by Michele Obama and numerous beautiful children’s factual books.
3. Have you any events going on in December?
We’re just arranging a ‘Cumberland Christmas stories’ event with local author Alan Cleaver date TBC
