Welcome to Lloyds of Kew Bookshop, who can be found at 9 Mortlake Terrace, Kew, Richmond

The shop was established 1973 by renowned local Book Dealer and Botany and Horticulture specialist, Daniel Lloyd. It has been an important feature of the London Book Trade ever for over 40 years, and situated only yards from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the shop still stocks an extensive range of general gardening, horticultural and botanical books. The shop is the epitome of the second hand bookshop – lined with floor to ceiling wooden bookshelves and with an original Victorian shop front.

A unique feature of the shop is the “Book tree” in the back room; a bookshelf made of pine, commissioned by previous owner Ulrike Bulle, and designed and constructed by Tim Vincent-Smith. The bookshelf now hosts a range of children’s books, including a selection of vintage books.

We asked all the bookshops to answer three Christmas questions:

1. What is your favourite Christmas book?
Favourite Xmas book – will have to get back to you on that one!

2. What books should we look out for this December? Adult fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction
Underland by Robert Mcfarlane but that’s not til May 19, and for a state of the nation novel Middle England by Jonathan Coe.

3. Have you any events going on in December?
We don’t have forthcoming events
