Welcome to Five Leaves Bookshop, who can be found at 14a Long Row, Nottingham.
One of the few independents to open in any UK city centre this century! Find us opposite Nottingham Tourism centre.
Located in the centre of Nottingham, we specialise in:
Cityscape and Landscape, Politics, Fiction and Poetry,
Lesbian and Gay, Counterculture, International writing, and Magazines and Journals.
We asked all the bookshops to answer three Christmas questions:
1. What is your favourite Christmas book?
A Winter Book; selected stories by Tove Jansson (Sort of Books, £9.99) – might be stretching a point, but we have it in our Christmas section, and it is the best book there. No Moomins were hurt in the making of this non-Moomin collection for adults.
2. What books should we look out for this December? Adult fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction
a) We sold more copies of this year’s Booker winner, Milkman by Anna Burns (Faber, £8.99) within a week after the prize than any other Booker winner over a year since the shop opened in 2013.
b) Pages & Co: Tilly and the Bookwanderers by Anna James (HarperCollins, £12.99), in which Tilly’s favourite books come to life in her grandparents’ bookshop
c) The Library of Ice: readings from a cold climate (Upernavik in Greenland) by Nancy Campbell (Scribner, £14.99)
3. Have you any events going on in December?
Tuesday 4 – Poetry reading by Liz Berry
Thursday 6 – Graham Jones on The Vinyl Revival
Monday 10 Chris Bambery on Catalonia Reborn
Thursday 13 – Lorna Holder on Caribbean fashion
