Three generations of the Angel family work as booksellers in both Gullivers and Westbourne Bookshop in Bournemouth. Being an independent business means that the shops have real character and provide genuine service to their customers.

Gullivers stocks a full range of new books covering every genre, with a rapid ordering system in place to supply any book in print within 24-48 hours. We also stock a range of jigsaws, educational toys, cards, calendars and diaries.

We asked all the bookshops to answer three Christmas questions:

1. What is your favourite Christmas book?
My favourite Christmas Book is The Night Before Christmas and I have at least 8 different copies. It’s something that I used to read to my daughter every Christmas Eve and now at 18 she knows by heart.

2. What books should we look out for this December? Adult fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction
Non fiction

The Ordnance Survey Puzzle Book looks great this Christmas. There are puzzles to solve for all ages, hidden treasure to spot, codes to crack. Lots of our customers declare their love for maps!

Roar by Cecelia Ahern. This is a collection of short stories so perfect for the busy Christmas period. From The Woman Who Slowly Disappeared to The Woman Who Returned and Exchanged Her Husband, these stories are touching and sometimes hilarious. They will help you find your roar!
