A growing directory of my interests in Art History, including essays, manifesto, discussions and gallery/exhibition reviews, and thoughts.
I studied Art History with the Open University and have always been interested in the theoretical side of art in the late 19th century onwards. This development was exemplified in the early 20th century with an explosion of manifestos proclaiming theory and politics of different movements, not since the Renaissance era had artists so thoroughly proclaimed their ideas of art and the world and their place in it.
I love going to MFA and BFA shows and seeing the themes that are current in the various schools, one year architectural structures of wood and cardboard seemed common, another year it was spatial relationships. It is always a great treat to see how others work and develop their work.
So keep an eye out for more articles, reviews, and thoughts.
