It's me!

Publishers MapI thought I would pop a post on here to let everyone know what’s happening with the various websites and projects.

My main focus is building a spreadsheet of information from the UK and Ireland independent publishers that I have listed on this blog, and some that are still on the reams of handwritten notes that I’ve been collecting since the start of these projects.

These bits of information include all the contact details and addresses that I’ve found, social media links, genres published, format published in, and any imprints.

With this information I’ll be producing a stub post on this website and expanding the use of the map to show publishers physical location, I’ll just be working through the list alphabetically and will get everyone on eventually.

There will always be opportunities for the publishers to input their own information to these stubs, in either a #PublisherProfile post and/or a simple statement, or keeping details up to date, and they can do this by using the Contact form.

The next step would be to collate this in an ebook/pdf that gets updated once a month and a physical book that would be updated once (or twice, still not made my mind up) a year.

For the ebook/pdf and book I’m thinking of various channels of how to charge/fund this and Patreon (still working on developing this) has come to the top of my list with the possibility of two tiers. The first (lower) tier would get you access to the updated ebook/pdf on a monthly basis as long as you were a patron, the next (higher) tier would get you similar access but also the physical copy once a year for as long as you were a patron.

I also think that I should give people the opportunity to buy both the electronic and physical editions here on the site as a one-off purchase.

I’m also still working through the various collections of notes and bookmarks for the indie bookshop side of the project, and will be developing stub pages for the indie bookshops as well.

I’m also starting to mirror my reviews from the Big Bearded Bookseller website and the information on the Indie Publisher website onto here, turning this blog into the one-stop-shop of all the bookish information I’m collecting and producing even though I’m keeping the other two website. (Update, I did start writing this post at the start of the year and completely forgot about it, but the mirroring has been completed!)

The newsletter is now coming out weekly and I’m always looking for your news and information to add, but this is a place where you can read me ramble about my past week in the bookish world and what I’m going to be doing in the next week, bits of news, links and lists to information, and the occasional #BrowseABookshop / #PublisherProfile / review / Q&A section.

Yes that did say a Q&A, I’m beginning to email authors to see if they would like to be involved in a Q&A section of the website, also on the newsletter and a Waterstones instagram account. This is the same format as the #PublisherProfile and #BrowseABookshop where I send out a pile of questions and the author can answer as many of these as they want to and send them back with some photos and I turn this into a blog post.

All this is still in development but I thought I would let you know what I’m getting on with in the background.

Oh and every day on twitter to some extent or another!

If you want to help and support this blog and my other projects (Indie Publishers and Big Bearded Bookseller) you could become a Patreon which would help pay for my hosting, domain names, streaming services, and the occasional bag of popcorn to eat while watching films.

If you can’t support with a monthly subscription a tip at my Ko-Fi is always appreciated, as is buying things from my Ko-Fi Shop.

You can always email me on with any suggestions.
