If so, why not enter this writing competition.
We want to see 750 words, fact or fiction, about books, bookshops, libraries, and/or reading.
It can be serious, fun, or completely fantastical, your choice.
This competition is aimed at children who will be aged 5-11 years old on March 18th 2021. Entries must be submitted by an adult, either a parent or teacher, with nomination information about the class to receive the enamel pins.
The overall winning writer will also receive a £10 National Book Token and a Book Buddy Postcard for themselves.
Closing date midnight of 26th February 2021 and the winner will be announced on March 31st 2021.
Entries must be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or through our Contact form by midnight on 26th February 2021 and the adult responsible must supply the entrants name, age, region, and ensure they have parental permission to enter the competition.
Only one entry per entrant and all stories must be written by the person named and not be written by more than one person.
Entrants retain the copyright in their entries but their parent or guardian grants a perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free licence to publish, broadcast (across all media) and post the entry online and on any other platforms yet to be envisaged the Indie Bookshops. This licence will be deemed to include all the necessary rights and permissions to enable such use by Indie Bookshops, to fulfil the prize and to complete the administration of this competition.
By submitting a story the entrant’s parent or guardian agrees that Indie Bookshops may at its sole discretion edit, adapt, abridge or translate the entry for the purposes listed in the clause above.
All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. Indie Bookshops accepts no responsibility if entrants ignore these Rules and the entrant’s parent, guardian or teacher agrees to indemnify Indie Bookshops against any claim by any third party from any breach of these Rules.
By entering the competition the entrant and adult are assumed to have agreed to all the above terms and conditions.
